I don't think I've said anywhere that Serious People use Giant Bomb, just that it has potential to be useful/interesting. And I agree that the autocompleting search thing shouldn't do that.

Of course they use Google and Wikipedia as well. But unlike you, I don't think serious people use Giant Bomb.
And I gave the example to illustrate the SEARCH funtion of Giant Bomb compared to the one of Moby Games, to show an example how GB works. I get as a hit RW's Phantasmagoria's game (without credits), not what I looked for. I guess it works differently when you do a search. And overall, I don't believe you can seriously assert that the amount and quality of information comes close to that of MG.

John D.,

Well, for serious research, most people are going to hit Google and Wikipedia before MobyGames or Giant Bomb. Considering Giant Bomb has been around a tenth of the time of MobyGames, and the chosen example (Roberta Williams) is slap bang in the middle of the most intensively written up area of MobyGames's users expertise (classic PC games), Giant Bomb's entry doesn't come off too badly by comparison. It has most if not all the games she's credited on as well as more obvious reference points like nationality and date of birth.

Giant Bomb still has a long way to go, but the framework is there, and progress is definitely being made.

Well, if I type a well-known name in MG
search option, like Roberta Willams e.g., I get at least a hit (and nice credits & info etc.) ;-) Try the search option of GB.
I myself, and many magazines (often the
formulations/info details reveal their sources) use MG. I never use Giant Bomb for serious research, and it is easy to see/check why.

I cannot quite understand the enthusiasm for GiantBomb... A good deal of its entries are almost devoid of any information and the rest is often just copypasted from somewhere else (not seldom from MobyGames, actually) You're right about the general structure of MG, though; if they don't change quickly, they'll walk the web as a zombie. Sad but true.
